Urban Sustainability(SUS) programme
Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Vimannagar,Pune is the part of the Supporting Urban Sustainability(SUS) 2012-13 programme which is an International Initiative.
The Supporting Urban Sustainability(SUS) programme aims at enhancing the capacity of key public, civic and private organizations to collaboratively learn about and take action for ecosystem services for poverty alleviation(ESPA) in cities. It enables pooling of knowledge from different stakeholders to jointly specify the objective of their learning process. Thereby they gain ownership of the learning process and potential for positive impact on ground is increased.
Dr.Pisolkar Yogesh from Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Vimannagar,Pune is the member of the core committee of inquiry team ‘SANGAM’ for the city of Malvan. He is contributing to ‘SUS’ programme to best of his abilities.
“HOW CAN WE MANAGE FISHERIES AND TOURISM IN KARLI, KOLAMB AND TALASHIL CREEKS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT?” is the inquiry /research question of the team ‘SANGAM’. Centre for Environment Education(CEE) has a partnership with SWEDESD the Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development for this initiative. SCMS had memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CEE.SCMS and CEE have then agreed to cooperate on various projects and initiatives.
The other locations in the overall project (apart from Malvan) are-
- · Gangtok(Sikkim),Guwahati(Assam),Kozhikode(Kerala), Guntur(Andhra Pradesh)
- · Rajshai(Bangladesh),Thimpu(Bhutan), Hoi An ( Vietnam)
The project certainly yielded useful material/ case studies for our course on Environment Management
The local stake holders from core team will inform Dr.Pisolkar for his inputs as and when needed to carry out certain actions on ground as a part of initiative and to carry forward of SUS programme in study area.
