COMMON INDUCTION PROGRAMME 2018

The Common Induction Programme 2018 was held on 5th July 2018, Thursday for the new batch of first year students from the three institutes on the SVC Campus – SCMS, SCMC and SID, Pune. Students assembled in the auditorium by 10:30am for the morning session. This event began at 12 noon, with a screening of the SIU movie ‘Fountain of Knowledge’ followed by the lighting of the lamp by all dignitaries on the dais where Prof. Prasanna (Faculty-SID) and Dr. Ishita Dutt (Faculty-SCMS) sang a rendition of the Saraswati Vandana.

Dignitaries from Symbiosis International (Deemed University) graced this event – Dr. S. B Mujumdar – Founder and President, Symbiosis, Hon. Chancellor SIU; Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director - Symbiosis, Pro Chancellor, SIU; Dr. Rajani Gupte, Vice-Chancellor – SIU, the directors of the three SVC Institutes – Dr. Adya Sharma (SCMS), Prof. Atul Kedia, (SID) and Prof. Anupam Siddhartha (SCMC) and the Chief Guest for the day – Ms. Shirin Johari, Design Innovator and Co-Founder of Clap Global. The Chief Guest was felicitated by Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, followed by the felicitations of the dignitaries from University and Society, by Prof. Atul Kedia with beautiful bouquets of roses.

Dr. Adya Sharma delivered the Welcome Address for the day, setting the tone of the event. All SIU Dignitaries took the podium to enlighten students on the experiences they would undergo at Symbiosis and the Chief Guest, Ms. Johari inspired the audience with her speech on her personal experiences in her storied career.

Prof. Anupama Siddhartha concluded this morning session with his heartfelt yet humorous vote of thanks.

The afternoon session began at 2pm and was dedicated offering information to the new batch about the variety of facilities provided by SIU.

Following the screening of the SCHC Documentary, Dr. Puja Malhan, Head- Student Affairs along with a panel of 5 speakers from the newly initiated SymbiCare Team spoke to students about matters that students should be aware of, and actively participate in. Ms. Swati Sahasrabudhe, Head, International Initiatives, Symbiosis Centre for International Education oriented students on international study opportunities.

The conclusion session post lunch was conducted by the Senior Campus Administrator of the SVC Campus – Col. (Retd.) C V Mohan, who explained the rules and regulations of the SVC Campus to the students through a humorous presentation and interactive discussions.

The session ended at 4:45pm with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. Gowri Menon, SCMS-Pune, thus marking the end of the Common Induction Programme of 2018.
