HR CONCLAVE 2015

SCMS conducted its first HR Conclave on “Innovations in HR” on 5th December 2015.



The conclave was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Mangesh Kulkarni, VP- HR /IR Piaggio India as Chief Guest. The other guest speakers were Mr Abhijeet Shah- VP Bharat Forge, Mr.Prashant Ambulgekar, Mr Abhijeet Parlikar, Mrs Leena Deshpande VP- Head CSR Bharat Forge.

The conclave was inaugurated with the auspicious lighting by the esteemed dignatories. Dr Adya Sharma- Director SCMS,Pune welcomed and felicitated the guests.

The conclave started with the welcome speech by Dr. Adya Sharma. She also specially thanked Dr Santosh Bhave for his support in conducting the HR Conclave.

The 1st Session started with the views of Mr. Prashant Ambulgekar on HR Planning. He stressed upon shifting of HR from national parapet to Global, product manufacturing to service. Human resources planning should serve as a link between human resources management and the overall strategic plan of an organization

This was followed by an inspirational speech by Mr. Abhijeet Shah- VP Bharat Forge. He stressed upon the principles of Management and reflected the role of a housewife in optimally managing multiple tasks. He also spoke about resource and resourcefulness and how the industry was shifting textile to automobile to digitalization.


The Chief Guest Mr. Mangesh Kulkarni- VP- HR /IR Piaggio India, started off with an enthusiastic conversation and how innovation and change is required at the entry level in an organization. He also focused upon- disruptive thinking and the need to be smarter and create the need for your own idea. He emphasized on Employee passion- A measurable tribute? - he gave food for thought to the audience with his views on this. He said that it is difficult to measure passion and laid the importance on multidisciplinary approach.

Mr. Abhijeet Parlikar- shared his views on innovation. He discussed the role of career and job interchangeably. He shared relevant data about the Indian workforce, shift from agriculture to services sector in the 2030. He also pointed out the need for HR programs to bring in sensitivity around the various upcoming segments and prioritize them accordingly. He also focused upon the need for talent development.

Mrs. Leena Deshpande Vice President- Head CSR Bharat Forge. She spoke about the paradigm shift in manufacturing and getting man less shop floors. Employee engagement, skill and competencies are not upto the mark is what she pointed out. She also shared that her company is focusing on formal learning initiatives and converting technicians into engineers. She ended her speech with an excellent quote by Henry Ford “Take away everything from me except my people and I will build my empire again.

With this note the HR Conclave ended with vote of thanks being delivered by Dr Sameera Raees.
